Jennifer Lawrence in Die My Love | A Postpartum Psychosis Journey (2025)

Prepare to be shaken. Jennifer Lawrence delivers a powerhouse performance in Die My Love, a film that fearlessly plunges into the depths of postpartum psychosis, challenging the picture-perfect portrayals often seen on social media. This movie isn't just a film; it's a raw, unflinching look at a new mother's descent into a world where reality unravels.

The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay (known for her work on Morvern Callar, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and You Were Never Really Here), follows Grace, played by Lawrence, as she navigates the isolating landscape of rural Montana with her partner, Jackson (Robert Pattinson). Having moved from New York City, Grace finds herself in an alien environment, a stark contrast to Jackson's homecoming.

The narrative, adapted from Ariana Harwicz's novel and co-written by Enda Walsh, is unpredictable, keeping you on the edge of your seat. One moment you're grounded, and the next, you're swept away in Grace's fractured reality.

Die My Love marks a significant turning point in Lawrence's career. After appearing in films like Passengers, Red Sparrow, and Dark Phoenix, Lawrence has chosen more complex and challenging roles, including the satirical Don't Look Up, the war veteran drama Causeway, and the comedy No Hard Feelings. This film, which she also produced, showcases her versatility. She masterfully portrays a character you desperately want to help, but whose fate you fear.

But here's where it gets controversial... This movie might not be for everyone. Its episodic nature and experimental style could be off-putting to some viewers. It's a film that could just as easily be displayed in an art gallery as in a cinema.

And this is the part most people miss... It would be a true shame if Lawrence's tour-de-force performance was only appreciated by a niche audience.

What do you think? Do you find films that tackle difficult mental health issues like postpartum psychosis important? Do you agree that Lawrence's performance deserves an Oscar nomination? Share your thoughts in the comments!
